Alvin Jett & The Phat Noiz Blues Band new album has something special: it has been released in Europe first, by the Belgian firm Blues Boulevard Records Music Avenue. Early Summer 2009, it should also be available in USA. This is a further sign that Europe is becoming more and more important for Blues musicians, even more than they might think. Jett and his fellows are ready for international stages: They would move forward from the status of regional Blues act to become an international attraction. As a matter of fact, what this group does certainly not miss is originality: from the beginning of Honey Bowl, they move, track by track, to other dimensions than the Blues world, which is notoriously quite extended. As you reach track n° 10 Dem Heaters you may realize that The Phat Noiz is merely playing Fusion ! The next song ”Alone & Drinkin” well reflects Jett’s inspiration, a mixture of soul rock with a lot of funk, also through Corey Woodruff - a terrific drummer. The main shortcoming of mixing styles on a steady basis is that a group’s personality may fade away and technical limits would pop up pitiless. This is not the case of Jett and the Phat Noiz, though they should still provide some explications about the exact nature and purpose of a couple of songs. While “Zombie Land” can find its origins in a double pizza, “Me, You and Cydnee” is truly are to understand and to listen to. However, common sense tells us that The Phat Noiz with some adjustment could easily be one of the major Blues act of a not so far future.
